Aim
We are trying to raise funds to purchase new Christmas lights for the village. We also do a santa sleigh drive, to raise money for charity.
My family and I (hubby & son) and another couple from our village hold an annual Christmas sleigh drive.
We have always relied on someone in the village to provide us with a trailer that we decorate, but this year, we are transforming a trailer that was my husbands, so this requires some funding.
We dress up and travel around the village on the sleigh, over 2 days, with all the money raised, half of the funds will be going into our 'village light fund', as our previous lights no longer work, with the other half of the money donated to a local charity.
We personally buy sweets that are thrown out to the children, but the adults enjoy it too.
Also, for the first time this year, I am starting 'letters from Santa'.
For a small fee, I will personally write and post a reply letter to the children.
Again, all money raised will go into the fund pot.
We started this in Covid and the community loved it and to see their faces was beautiful after such a hard time.
The elderley people in our village live it just as much.
