Hello! I'm Jojo Mac, a dedicated single mother juggling two jobs as a boxing coach and teacher. These roles have helped support my dream project: Hob Hey Hideaways!
In 2021, amidst the challenging times of lockdown, I embarked on this journey to create a unique glamping experience. Hob Hey was born out of passion and self-funding, blossoming from a single tent into a delightful retreat hosting memorable events such as baby showers, hen dos, milestone birthday parties, enchanting overnight stays, and charming afternoon tea gatherings.
Our first year saw us expand from one tent to two - Deb’s Den and Sonella’s Slumber - complemented by our quaint Shower Shed and Tin Toilet facilities. It was a time for reconnection and celebration, as people yearned for the joy of togetherness and the refreshing embrace of nature after the COVID restrictions.
In 2022, we shifted our focus to more serene stays, catering to families, friends, and couples seeking solace in the countryside's tranquillity.
The success of Hob Hey was evident, with a rapidly growing customer base, over 1500 followers on Facebook, and heartwarming feedback. Inspired to evolve further, in Spring 2022, I added a third tent, Willow’s Wallow, and successfully registered as a licensed site with the Freedom Camping Club, allowing us to welcome guests year-round.
Then, the big leap: acquiring The Hideaway Hut!
However, 2023 posed challenges with harsh weather and delayed deliveries. My amazing 76-year-old dad and I started building the Shepherd Hut in September. It's been a monumental task, full of learning experiences, but also with unforeseen costs.
This brings me to my heartfelt appeal. I'm just a few hundred pounds short of completing this incredible addition in time for a Spring 2024 launch. Despite my best efforts and long working hours, this final hurdle remains.
Looking ahead to 2024, I envision Hob Hey flourishing as an all-year-round haven. The "Hideaway Hut" is set to be a cozy retreat for couples or small families, complete with a log burner, a comfy toilet, a small kitchenette, and a tranquil space for a unique escape into the wonders of nature.
In gratitude for your support, I've prepared some exciting rewards, and I eagerly look forward to fulfilling them.
