Our aim is to offer sustainable employment to people with criminal convictions, we will achieve this through sales in our Manchester bakery
As an ex-offender myself I learned a long time ago that change can happen when you change your environment, I changed my environment by gaining employment, little by little I began to change and become more like my peers in the workplace, rather than the peers I had grown up around. At HMPasties we want to help others change their environment by offering training and peer mentoring whilst employed and earning a living wage.
Our AimsHMPasties is a not for profit social enterprise, we aim to create a core team of 6 ex-offenders who have some experience of either baking or cookery, we will develop these skills further and form a core team of staff who will produce high quality baked goods whilst becoming peer mentors for new employees who join us either whilst in custody, on release on temporary license (ROTL) or upon release from custody.
Whilst working as peer mentors we will train and develop the skills of our new team members over a 6 - 12 month period, throughout this time team members will receive training in Food Hygiene, Health and Safety, First Aid and Professional Food preparation, when ready they will be supported to find work within the food industry. We will help to create CVs, assist with applications, prepare for an interview and provide support throughout the process of seeking employment, we will also provide protective clothing and footwear which can be taken to their new job.

To coincide with the launch of our very own bakery in Manchester we have launched our Crowdfunding campaign, the campaign is to assist with the purchase of a purpose built catering vehicle to support the growth of our business and allow us to provide mobile catering services to construction sites and other locations. At a minimum securing the vehicle will help create 3 new jobs in sales and provide job security for 5 others employed in the bakery.
A successful Crowdfunding campaign will help HMPasties to achieve its ultimate goal of becoming a self-funded employment programme and create sustainable jobs for people with criminal convictions.
