Aim: We're aiming to raise £10k by completing a group wide Cycling Challenge and Coast to Coast Ride following the purchase of our hall!
High Littleton Scouts have been a part of the local community in High Littleton for over 50 years and have provided amazing opportunities to a countless number of Young People and Adults, who all share the same enthusiasm and commitment to the wider scouting family.
Recently, we’ve been able to complete the purchase of the former Methodist Church in High Littleton, which has now become High Littleton Scout Hall. This is a great investment for us as a group and ensures that the Scouts will have the security of a permanent home for years to come. Additionally, we are ensuring that this facility is a key community asset, providing a meeting location for High Littleton Pre-School and a number of varying community groups. But to ensure that we can effectively do this, we need your help!
Ownership of a building this size and age, comes with a number of challenges, not least the maintenance and repairs that need to be undertaken, the loans we need to repay and the utility bills to contend with. So, we’re kick starting a fundraising drive, through this Cycling Challenge.
What are we doing?
Over one epic weekend, 29th April to 2nd May, the whole group are undertaking two different challenges. Firstly, 10 of our Scouts, along with a number of parents and leaders who will be supporting the event, will be cycling the 160km from Ilfracombe to Plymouth on the Devon Coast to Coast Cycle Route. This is something that will take them 3 days, across some very challenging landscapes with over 3000m of elevation along the way. Secondly, our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts will be undertaking a cycling challenge at the Cycle Track in Odd Down, Bath. All our Young People will be challenged to complete as many laps as they can of the 1.5km track in 3 hours.
We’re hoping that both of these challenges will provide a great opportunity for our Young People to get out of their comfort zone, and push themselves to succeed, no matter which one of the two challenges they are undertaking. Of course, each of them will be looking for individual sponsorship, so if you know anyone in the group directly, why not get in contact with them to see if you can support? Alternatively, if you’d like to support the group, and the challenge, please donate here, via this crowdfunding page.
Thank you.

What's Scouting all about?
Scouts provides the opportunity for Young People to develop the skills they need to succeed in life. Each week over 460,000 young people throughout the UK enjoy the fun and adventure of scouting taking in part in a huge variety of activities, challenges and events.
But this can only happen with the support of our amazing volunteers & supporters, who all give up their time to help deliver Scouting in this local area.
Want to get involved with the Group?
Volunteering is easier than you think, and we're always looking for more volunteers. Whether you can spare an hour a month or a day a year, we have loads of opportunities both behind the scenes and directly supporting young people. With full support and training, you can volunteer on a flexible basis.
Not only is it incredibly rewarding and great fun, you’ll learn some brilliant skills transferable to the workplace and further education.
We welcome volunteers from every community and background. You don’t need to have been a Scout. You just need to believe in a more positive future and the difference we can make together.
