HINGHAM PLAYING FIELD ASSOCIATION (HPFA)

Hingham Playing Field Association (HPFA) has been in existence for over 40 years, run by volunteers to provide sports and leisure services for the local community.

What HPFA does:

........it owns and manages Hingham Sports Centre, the adjacent playing fields and two playgrounds, one at the Sports Centre and one at the Welcomme Space site, The Fields, Hingham.  The Centre  hosts eleven different sports clubs including Pickleball, Football, Tennis, Table tennis, Cricket, Judo and Badminton. Abrahams Bar & Clubhouse is on site selling alcoholic and light refreshments, with reduced prices for members. Darts, pool and cribbage are offered in the bar and the team host a range of social events like quiz nights and bingo.

Hingham Sports Centre is a cherished community asset, providing a range of facilities to local rural residents.  It's a source of pride  that so many people have devoted their time and energy to keep the place operating in spite of many challenges. Please contribute to our Crowdfunder Appeal- every penny counts, and all donations will be spent improving these facilities for the Community.  Gift Aid can be claimed on eligible donations which increases the value of your donation at no cost to you. You can read what has been achieved through earlier fundraising  below.

Hall improvements:

In December 2024  all the hall lights were replaced with LED fittings, reducing both the carbon footprint and energy costs, as well as ensuring the hall is well lit for all sports. A number of necessary improvements to the electrical wiring were implemented.

In 2025,  fire safety measures were prioritised  with new smoke alarms and  fire proof glass fitted.  Shower heads and toilet seats have been renewed in the home and away changing rooms.

In 2026, we raised over £18000 from club donations, crowdfunding and a grant from Sports England Movement Fund. Together with investment from reserves, we installed a brand new Pulastic sports surface in the sports hall.

Plans for the future.......

HPFA intends to ensure that Hingham Sports Centre and playgrounds are sustained for future generations to enjoy. At present work is underway to change the Centre's status to that of  Charitable Incorporated Organisation, which is recommended for organisations that own property and employ staff. New volunteers have joined the committee to play a role in securing our future  The website is being developed to improve our marketing and help generate income to maintain and improve the facilities.

The monies raised from hiring the hall cover the running costs such as insurance, energy bills, safety inspections, cleaning, caretaking and maintenance of heating/drainage system but capital spend is dependent on fundraising. Your donation to Crowdfunder will help secure the future of Hingham Sports Centre. HPFA and the many users of the facilities appreciate your support.

We are currently fundraising for:

Improving our carpark by resurfacing, kerbing, providing disabled access parking spaces and surfacing our overflow parking area so it can be used all year and prevent our users parking in nearby streets.
