Ramadan and Lent are seasons of reflection, generosity, and solidarity, moments when many people choose to give up food and give back to others.
But across Nottingham, many people are not choosing hunger.
They are living with it.
Families are skipping meals, households are facing impossible financial pressures, and vulnerable individuals are increasingly turning to charities like Himmah simply to get by.
Founded in 2011 by Sajid Mohammed, Himmah began with one simple response to injustice: seeing need and choosing to act. What started as community compassion has grown into a city-wide movement supporting thousands of people each year through both emergency aid and long-term support that restores dignity and stability.
More Than Emergency Support
Your donation helps sustain vital projects supporting local people across Nottingham:
• Emergency food parcels for families in crisis
• Hot community meals for those facing hardship or isolation
• Foodprint social supermarkets offering affordable food
• A Clothes Bank providing essential clothing
• Cooking and skills programmes helping people move beyond crisis
Last year alone, Himmah distributed over 12,000 food parcels, yet demand continues to rise while food costs have tripled in recent years.
