- The crisis continues! Thousands are now having to choose to either pay their bills or have food on the table. This means not only adults, but families with children in this city have no choice but hunger. Do you feed yourself or do you feed the children? That's the difficult question being asked.
Himmah aims to help educate and empower individuals and communities to become more independent. We do this through campaigns, literary projects and classes.
Please donate generously and support local people in crisis by helping our projects to deliver food parcels, hot meals and advice & advocacy services. Our projects are Zakat eligible, please indicate in the comments section if you are making a Zakat donation.
Himmah is a social justice charity set up by Sajid Mohammed (Director) in 2010 and then became a registered CIO in 2015. Sajid met a destitute asylum seeker through the Islamic Centre in Nottingham and once he heard Ahmed's story he felt compelled to act and started conversations about how to support people facing destitution in Nottingham. That was the moment that Himmah was born.
Since then Himmah has raised funds to support people mostly through food poverty projects such as our foodbank, delivering 400 parcels a week. It was only a couple of years ago when we were distributing only 50 parcels a week! Our other projects include the social supermarkets (FoodPrint) and also the weekly hot meals in partnership with other faith-groups most notably SaSH which provides hot meals every Wednesday evening (providing 150 hot meals a week).

Himmah also works on community organising (with Nottingham Citizens) and also delivers projects around challenging racial and educational inequalities. Much of the work depends on being able to raise funds from grants and generous individuals, families and businesses through appeals such as this!
On Saturday the 26th of August 2023, Himmah held its first Snowdon Trek to raise vita funds for this cause. The activity was a huge success, bringing in much need support and vital funds. However, the need continues. This Crowdfunding Appeal means that anyone can donate up to £250 online and have their donation matched, meaning we can feed and educate more individuals and families in need over the coming 12 months.

As the festive season is only around the corner, this provides a great opportunity for you to help ensure that no one need go hungry in Nottingham over the coming year. Please donate and share with your friends and family to support our funding needs, which are currently growing astronomically due to difficulties in sourcing the food we are distributing which means our food-parcels have tripled in price over the last 2 years alone.
It has been narrated that Gandhi once said 'Be the change you want to see in this world'. This is our opportunity to be that change.
Help local people in crisis by donating to the Himmah Food Bank and Hot Meals project.
There isn't long to go, so please donate now! Please also share this appeal with friends and family - we need all the support as our food supply costs are constantly increasing along with the needs of families experiencing food poverty!

Last year from just 1st July to end of Dec 2022, we distributed over 8196 food parcels which equates to 75 tonnes of food given out to local families. We know we need £15 to feed a family for a week which is £780 a year - but with demand only rising the need for our food aid keeps on climbing to new record highs.
£780 feeds 1 family for a year
£65 feeds a family for a month
£15 feeds a family for a week
Our additional wrap around support means people can benefit from our social supermarkets, where they can buy food at subsidised prices to ensure a small budget can go further. Our budgeting classes help people to calculate how much their income and expenditure is, so they know how much money they need to pay their bills and avoid getting into debt which then adds more pressure to a low budget. Finally, our cooking classes help people learn basic cooking techniques and how to be creative and cook tasty meals from food they get in a food parcel or can buy through our social supermarkets.

Please contact us on [email protected] to be added to our mailing list and also follow us on social media as we need your support to continue to meet demand for 2023 and beyond.

Will you help make a REAL difference?
Thank you for your support and generous donations.
