Cost Of Living Emergency Fund has provided £190 of match funding
This winter High Peak Foodbank at Zink will support families most badly affected by the cost of living crisis with food and advice.
A charity based in Buxton supporting families affected by poverty, unemployment, poor mental health, homelessness, disability etc. Our foodbank and fuel bank are the last resort for families who are referred by social services, jobcentres, GPs, family workers, schools etc. We do far more than just give out food! Our staff and over 85 volunteers work to welcome people going through a tough time and offer help like:
- advice to resolve issues that cause poverty and homelessness
- activities to improve wellbeing and reduce isolation
- support from qualified work coaches to get jobs so people don't get stuck in a poverty cycle
- a nourishing meal in our community eco-cafe which is open to all but free for foodbank users and 50% discount for those on benefits.
We give people chance to make a fresh start and support them to do this so they become financially independent and contributors to society. Many of our volunteers are also service users - they do it because they want to give back and help others going through similar issues.
Over 500 long term unemployed people supported into work so far and many more into education or training that helped them get a job.
1800 people supported with nearly 40,000 meals last year.
350 people a year supported to resolve issues that cause poverty and crises.
Over 200 people a week eat well at Zink's eco-cafe, reducing food waste and helping to support local families.
Over 30 children a week attend our fun and feast session for families with complex needs, enjoying games and activities with their parent/s, essential time out from problems at home.
We need funds to run High Peak Foodbank and advice over winter 23/24. Emergency food parcels will be issued to families referred to us and our advice worker will help them start to resolve issues straightaway so they become financially independent.
Your donation will help pay for the costs of running a foodbank including volunteers costs, heat and light, providing advice.
