Aim

Raise funds for the Highland Outdoor Centre restoration in Loch Nevis, Scotland. First opened in 1973 aim to reopen 2027.

Hello from Mat & Jock (my wee dog)

In 2023 we took a leap of faith, sold up everything we owned and bought the Highland Outdoor Centre, one of the most remote outdoor centres in Scotland.

The dream was to live off-grid and restore this special place so others could experience the beauty and adventure of the Highlands.

Set on the shores of Loch Nevis and accessible only by boat or a long walk over the hills, the centre also known as Jocks Lodge is a truly unique place.

First opened in 1973 by adventurer Tom “Moby” McClean, the lodge once welcomed outdoor groups and military training teams for 50 years.

The reality has been tougher than expected.

Severe weather, rot being deeper than envisaged and the challenges of working in such a remote location have meant our project has fallen behind schedule and stretched our budget.

With your help, we aim to restore Jocks Lodge and open in 2027.

What Your Support Will Help Us Do

  • Roof replacement
  • Replacement doors and windows
  • Solar & battery storage
  • External cladding replacement / repairs
  • Kitchen replacement
  • Toilets and shower replacement
  • Feature wood burning stove
  • Heating and hot water
  • Replacement cabins / yurts
  • Landscaping for access
  • Wheel chair ramp to upper floor and galvanised steps

Leave Your Mark

We are working with a company called Evergreen to create a feature wall behind a small entertainment / speaking stage made from reclaimed whisky barrel staves.

Each stave will be laser engraved with supporters’ names creating a lasting personal connection to the lodge. Examples are in the rewards section from Big Rig Rugby, Overdrive Joinery and one I made for Tom & Jill McClean with an image of Moby the 40ft whale boat.

To ensure we give something back, we will pair with a registered charity and allow set weeks use each year.

Every little will help & thank you for supporting our journey.

Much love Mat & Jock.
