New stretch target
If we get to the stretch target we will be able to be more generous with what we pay our performers. They will all get paid but wouldn't it be wonderful if we could afford to pay them well to properly reward their talent.
High Tide - a community based music/spoken word festival in Twickenham showcasing the best local, established and young bands/performers.
by High Tide Twickenham CIC in Twickenham, Greater London, United Kingdom
If we get to the stretch target we will be able to be more generous with what we pay our performers. They will all get paid but wouldn't it be wonderful if we could afford to pay them well to properly reward their talent.
Eel Pie Records started as an ambitious dream that we (Phil and Kevin) had been talking about since the early 2010s. We had been putting on successful live gigs in the area for a while but wanted to do more and bring a permanent, music based hub to our Twickenham neighbourhood. So after a long search, we found our premises and opened our shop - Eel Pie Records.
Part of our vision was to hold a festival and in 2019, we did it. High Tide Festival happened on 22 June and was amazing. People described it as "the best thing to happen in Twickenham for decades".
Everyone was so disappointed that we couldn't hold High Tide in 2020 but we're doing it again in '21. Bigger and better.
We want to bring the finest local, young and established performers together for a day of high class original music.
High Tide will again be a brilliant day of top quality musical entertainment spread over an expanded 10 performance areas. It will include nationally known artists like The Desmond Dekker Band feat. Delroy Williams, Binker Golding, Stick In The Wheel, Deschanel Gordon and Salad as well showcasing young artists curated by The Basement Door youth charity.
It will be a free event so to cover our costs of staging the event, we need financial support. We have secured significant commercial sponsorship from local businesses, the Council and Discover Twickenham BID. But we need to double up on this and are calling on lovers of live music in our community and beyond to support us to make this happen.
The money will go primarily to pay the artists but will also contribute to staging and PAs
It will be a day for the community to come together to smile, dance and enjoy great music. And let's face it, we all need more of that after the last 18 months.
Local brewers CTZN Brewhouse will be supplying a special High Tide Ale for the day. There will also be street food and speciality drinks stalls. And all the fabulous cafes, restaurants and other businesses of Church Street and the wider Twickenham area to enjoy too.
