Help elect Green candidates Brenda Puech and Kwame Otiende for London Fields in May 2026
In a historic first, Green Party and Hackney Independent Socialists (HISC) are standing together in London Fields
The most recent election in London Fields was the 2024 by-election, where Labour beat the Hackney Independent Socialist candidate by just 309 votes
In 2022, the Green Party finished a strong second. This year, together, we can win.
Hackney Greens and Hackney Independent Socialists are already working together on pushing the council to divest its pension funds from arms companies, on action to address poverty and on prioritising the climate crisis.
Who we are
Brenda Puech
Brenda (left in photo) has lived in London Fields for 25 years and has been deeply involved in community life. She has led a Tenants and Residents Association, sits on committees of Hackney Living Streets, Hackney Cycling Campaign, the London Fields User Group, and the Hackney Palestine Solidarity Campaign, and founded the Parklets Campaign. Brenda has worked constructively with council officers and councillors on transport and planning. Professionally, she is a disability access consultant with a background in architecture and planning, and an MSc in Environmental Economics from the LSE. Brenda says, “People are hungry for clear information; I want to make sure they’re heard and helped.
Kwame Otiende
Kwame (centre in photo) has lived and worked in Hackney for over 20 years, runs one of Hackney’s most popular grassroots venues and a food bank. He understands the pressures residents face around housing, the cost of living, pressure on businesses and public services. Through this work, Kwame has built trusted relationships with residents, artists, local businesses, police, and council officers, balancing creativity with practical problem-solving.
Kwame says, “I want to bring a fresh, practical perspective to council representation. Listening, acting, and working collaboratively to improve public services, support vulnerable groups, and strengthen community engagement.”
Why We Need Your Help
To win, we must communicate our key messages to every household. Transparency is vital to us, so we want you to know exactly where your money goes: it costs us £250 every time we deliver a leaflet across the ward, it costs for us to get our message out on social media and it costs hundreds of pounds to place ads in local media.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We're funded by ordinary people who believe real change is possible. We’re doing it without corporate money or party machines behind us.
Here's how your donation will help:
£10: This will pay for 285 letters to voters in several streets.
£25: This will pay for 715 letters to voters in several streets.
£50: This will pay for 1,430 letters to voters in several streets.
£250: This helps fund a ward-wide leaflet delivery round
All three seats are winnable, but only if we fund it. Donate today. Share this campaign with your networks. Help us build something powerful from the ground up.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All sums donated will go into general party funds. Please note that we will carry out permissibility checks for any donations over £500. In addition, any single donation (or aggregate donations from the same source in the same calendar year) over the reporting threshold of £11,180 will be published on the Electoral Commission website, including the donor's identity.
