Help elect Green Party candidates Gemma Peramiquel-Borjas and Paul Anderson as councillors for De Beauvoir ward in May.
Your support is key to electing two hardworking local Greens to represent De Beauvoir ward this May. Gemma and Paul are campaigning hard, but they need your help.
Our story
The Green Party has a real opportunity this May to turn the tide in Hackney. In the lead-up to the election, we want to reach every resident in De Beauvoir so we can represent our neighbours as strongly as possible. It’s really important to us to put a human, friendly face to local politics, and engage with people about the issues that matter to them.
To do this, we need your help.
To win in May, we need to communicate our key messages to every household in De Beauvoir. Leaflets, campaign literature, social media, and local media advertising all cost money. And unlike the large-party machines with huge budgets, our grassroots campaign relies on donations from people like you who want to make a difference.
Your candidates in De Beauvoir:
Gemma Peramiquel-Borjas
Gemma is a disability advocate and creative facilitator who has lived in the area for twenty years. She has lived experience in housing evictions, adult social care, benefits and transport. She has ensured inclusive swimming for working-age disabled people at Britannia Leisure Centre, and regularly speaks to local disabled residents about barriers to collective decision-making.
“As a councillor, I will co-produce better council services with residents, not just for them. I will champion accountability, provide regular inclusivity training and work hard to include those who are often missing in the room.
I approach issues through the Social Model of Disability, a tool that aims to remove societal barriers that keep people excluded. That might mean installing fireproofed lifts for those that can’t do stairs and providing proper support for those that need it. But it also means ensuring residents are free to access local services without discrimination. As your councillor, I will be committed to ensuring our community is accessible to all, and that everyone can take part.”
How your help makes a difference
Council election wins often come down to the number of conversations we can have on doorsteps, or the number of leaflets we’re able to get through people’s letterboxes.
Transparency is vital to us and we want you to know where your money goes. For example, it costs us £250 to deliver a leaflet across the ward. It costs money to put our messages on social media, and hundreds of pounds to advertise in local media.
Here's how your donation will help:
£10: This will pay for 285 letters to voters in several streets.
£25: This will pay for 715 letters to voters in several streets.
£50: This will pay for 1,430 letters to voters in several streets.
£250: This helps fund a ward-wide leaflet delivery round

All sums donated will go into general party funds. Please note that we will carry out permissibility checks for any donations over £500. In addition, any single donation (or aggregate donations from the same source in the same calendar year) over the reporting threshold of £11,180 will be published on the Electoral Commission website, including the donor's identity.
