Race Update
Today was race day and it all went well. The six mile run at the end was a killer as usual, but I got round in 04:05:02, which is about 30 minutes faster than last year.
Thank you all for your donations, we have now reached £1000 for The Dust Project, even without gift aid. So hats off to you all, wonderful people.

Training Update
1.3 mile swim this morning.
That’s it for my training. I’m just having a couple of physio sessions this week to relieve a bit of stiffness across my shoulders (mainly from the cycling) and then resting for the race on Sunday.

Did a sprint triathlon today in West Sussex. It was a:
400 metre pool swim (16 laps)
16 mile bike
3 mile run
This was the first time I’ve done this particular tri and I finished in 1:52:57. Very pleased as this is the fastest sprint I’ve ever done by some margin. Good bike practise in particular.

Back in training today after a few days’ rest. 13 miles on the road bike.

Well, today’s trail half marathon was an interesting race! A different running club was organising it this year and they had a bit of a problem with route signage. A lot of runners got lost in the woods or fields and ended up overrunning the distance. I had done 18 miles by the time I crossed the finish line. It was a lovely day though and I saw a lot of Sussex countryside - and enjoyed my pub lunch in the village afterwards!

The Dust Project is a not-for-profit organisation working in Sri Lanka to support children and young people through orphanages, education, medical care and housing.
Through their Child Sponsorship program, and funding construction work as well as entrepreneurial and educational projects, their mission is to simply help where it’s most needed. My wife and I have been a sponsor of a child in this program for nine years. To learn more, visit The Dust Project.
In this year's triathlon I will be raising money to build a home for our sponsored child's mother. Since the mother brought her child to the orphanage for the child's own protection, they have had to live apart. By building a home for the mother on The Dust Project grounds, mother and child can live together in safety.
With this goal in mind, I will be participating in the Hever Castle Olympic Triathlon on 29 September 2024, at the childhood home of Anne Boleyn.
Here I will have to:
- swim 1 mile (across a lake)
- cycle 25 miles (an undulating course taking in the Kent countryside)
- run 6 miles (a trail run through the castle grounds)
