Hertford District Girlguiding , girls have fun, adventure and the space to discover their potential. They go to their first ever sleepover, canoe on rivers, learn about body confidence, and lead their own camp or sometimes they simply have fun and try new things with friends. Girls take what they do in guiding with them as they grow up. Everything from working in a team, to taking the lead, to speaking out on issues they care about. It helps them develop the skills and confidence to become the young women they want to be, and to make a difference to the world around them.

Hertford Girlguiding is run by volunteers, being Leaders, an executive committee (FOG).
With guiding, girls have fun, adventure and the space to discover their potential.

We all help at District events, fundraising for resources, assist older girls to attend international camps and girls that can not afford subscriptions , Day-to-day management, maintenance and repairs of District Headquarters in West street Hertford , which is used by girl guiding units and the wider community for educational purposes.
Our West street hut was built over 60 years ago by parents and members and has been run and maintained by volunteers since it opened .
Fundraising has been raised , grants have been awarded for the work that has been done over the years and has kept up the small things we have had to maintain .
We recently applied for a council grant to replace the main wooden frame door for a new UVCP door with extra security , we are currently in the middle of replacing the electrics from phase 2 to 3 , which is going to cost over 20k .
The hut has always been a part of the community and we want to be able to use it more for children to be able to stay over night and have traditional girlguiding sleepovers and holidays .
To ensure the safety of the girls and volunteers , we have plans to secure the hut with fencing and a gate , so that our members and community groups can be safe, and our hut and outdoor area will not be subject to vandalism and adolescents climbing on the roof and socialising and causing damage to it .
We want to be able to give children another 60 years of creating memories , having fun and being part of the community within Hertford.
With the secure fence and gate we would be able to provide a safe space for Girlguiding members to be able to come and use our hut from other areas to enjoy the beautiful area we have and experience wildlife and the outdoors , which some children never get to see , but with girlguiding and our volunteers we can make a difference to young girls lives . The fencing has been quoted at just over £10k
So please, if you are part of a company , an organisation or individual that would like to donate to help a wonderful project to change and make a difference we need to raise £30k
If you have some free time and would like to become a leader , member of FOG or have skills that could help us maintain the hut , please contact our District commissioner
