Hereford Hockey Club

Founded in 1896, Hereford Hockey Club has been at the heart of our community for well over a century. Today we’re proud to run two men’s teams, two ladies’ teams, a thriving veterans’ side, and a rapidly growing junior section with more than 100 young players aged 5 to 16.

We play at the Hereford Leisure Centre, right in the middle of the Racecourse, where generations of players have learned, competed, and fallen in love with the game. Our club is more than just hockey — it’s a place where friendships are made, skills are developed, and the community comes together.

The aim of our project

Hereford Hockey Club is raising funds to resurface our much‑loved but worn‑out pitch, which has been in use for over 16 years. Our goal is simple: to provide a safe, modern, and high‑quality playing surface for everyone in our community — from our 120 junior members aged 5 - 16, to our women’s and men’s teams, and our veterans who still love the game.

This project isn’t just about hockey. It’s about keeping sport accessible, inspiring the next generation, and giving our community a facility to be proud of. By coming together, even the smallest donations will make a huge difference. If everyone who reads this can ask ten people to give just £1 it will raise £12000.  We can then unlock larger grants and funding opportunities — multiplying the impact of every contribution.

We have a growing junior section of over a hundred juniors who all want to play hockey but they will not have a pitch to play on if it is not refurbished soon.

💷 How we’ll spend the money raised

Every pound raised will go directly towards resurfacing our 16‑year‑old pitch at Hereford Leisure Centre. A new, modern playing surface will:

•     Support not only hockey, but also footballers and other local sports clubs who regularly use the pitch

•     Secure the future of hockey in Hereford for generations to come

•     Improve safety for players of all ages

•     Provide better access for schools and community groups

🌍 Community impact

Hereford Hockey Club is more than just a sports team — it’s a hub for the whole community. Our pitch gives hundreds of children and adults the chance to play hockey, including many junior and senior school pupils whose schools don’t have their own facilities. By upgrading our pitch, we’ll:

•     Keep sport accessible to young people across Hereford

•     Encourage healthy, active lifestyles across multiple sports

•     Create a welcoming space where friendships, teamwork, and confidence can grow
