Henry and Pip

Aim: A short film - Fragments of the lives of two childhood friends who begin to confront their fears and innate connection for each other.

I'm Esta, I am an actor, writer, and director. I love how film can capture the intimate moments between people, it captures the unique, messy human interactions we experience.

I feel a lot of films at the moment are larger than life, I want to create something that is realistic, the conversations, connection, and touch between characters is true. 

I am drawn to the word ‘sonder’ - it’s the profound feeling of realising that every other individual you see has a life as full and complex as your own. ‘Henry and Pip’ allows the audience to see fragments of their life and their experiences, which gives a taste of sonder.

My team is made up of upcoming filmmakers who share the passion to create grounded, emotionally honest stories. 

This idea grew from conversations about the space between friendship and love where nothing’s labelled but everything feels intense. We want to capture that tension on screen in a way that feels playful, heartbreaking, and true.

With the money we raise, we’ll fund a short film that reflects this tone through intimate cinematography, a strong cast with chemistry, and locations that feel familiar and lived-in. The budget will go towards paying our crew fairly, securing locations, and giving the film a warm, cinematic finish in post-production.
