Aim: The club needs to purchase and install a seated stand to obtain the FAW's Tier 3 Licence, a pre-requisite for promotion
Cwmbrân Town AFC was founded in 1951 and has featured in the top tiers of Welsh domestic football for the majority of its existence. The club became the inaugural winner of what is now known as the Cymru Premier and has represented Wales in UEFA European competition several times. The club currently plays at tier 4 of the domestic pyramid and runs two adult teams plus 15 junior teams, both male and female. This equates to over 250 players, coaches and volunteers associated with the club. The club is proud of its mission statement which is the intention to give every individual the opportunity to play football, at all age levels, to progress to a standard they enjoy, in a friendly, sporting, thriving community.
In order to achieve promotion to the third tier of the FAW's domestic football league the club of course needs to finish in the top two places of the Gwent Premier League Premier Division. However, the club also needs to achieve the FAW Tier 3 Licence.
A key part of the licence is to have a covered seated stand of at least 50 seats installed at our nominated home ground.
The club is actively seeking a grant to help with this ambitious project but, as with most grants of this nature, the success of the application depends on the club being able to demonstrate that it too can contribute financially towards the project.
The money raised via this Crowdfunder project will be spent on purchasing and installing a seated stand at our home ground, Cwmbrân Stadium.
Cwmbrân Stadium is open seven days a week and is used by other formal and informal football teams, hockey teams, athletics clubs and members of the public etc.
Unfortunately, the stadium’s 2000+ capacity stand has been closed and unavailable for use since 2008 due to safety concerns. The club would be happy to allow any other sports teams using Cwmbrân Stadium to make use of any spectator stand we purchase and install.
In fact, any event held at the stadium could make use of the stand. Events such as this year’s CrowFest music festival (see: www.cwmbran.gov.uk/cwmbran-music-festival-crow-fest/).
We believe this spectator stand will remain in-place for years and be used by thousands of people, leaving a lasting legacy and benefit to the people of Cwmbrân.
Whether we are able to achieve this aim depends on the support we receive. The club is actively seeking a grant to help with this ambitious project but, as with most grants of this nature, the success of the application depends on the club being able to demonstrate that it too can contribute financially towards the project.
Therefore, it is with this objective in mind that was ask you to:
