We're fundraising to elect Cleadon & East Boldon's first ever Green councillor, David Herbert, at the by-election on Thursday, 9th September.
South Tyneside Green Party have had election success in other parts of the borough in recent years. We now have a 'Green Group' of councillors and are the second largest party represented on South Tyneside Council.
The choice is clear.
The people of Cleadon and East Boldon need a fresh, independent voice speaking up for them in the Town Hall.
This by-election in Cleadon and East Boldon has been called because the former Independent Conservative councillor has been barred from office, letting residents down.
David Herbert has lived in the ward for 57 years and has worked for many years to protect the precious green spaces across Cleadon and East Boldon from development. He's worked with residents groups such as Cleadon Action Group, Keep Boldon Green and the Tile Sheds campaign to say no to unnecessary house building and the proposed flyover development which threaten village life.
The Labour-run council have repeatedly ignored objections and concerns from residents and the Conservative government are relaxing planning laws (making it easier for developers to build on green belt) and failing to fund and support the infrastructure needed by local people, from doctors surgeries to libraries to school places.
Help us get David Herbert elected in Cleadon and East Boldon. Greens aren't funded by big donors, unlike the main two parties. We rely on support from local people within the communities we represent.
Thank you!
