- YOUR local newspaper was founded in September 2014, with the first digital editions appearing four months later. Offering a free local PDF newspaper to Gosport residents every week, The Globe began to gain ground within Fareham and the borough has been included in the main circulation area since 2018. Readership and advertising revenue has supported the running costs for an incredible six years, which includes four general elections as well as the European Referendum. More crucially, however, The Globe helped and supported readers throughout a spring 2020 lockdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic, with news reports, advice panels and special features despite a lack of government funding or advertising revenue. Sadly, the community interest company was unable to continue supporting running costs and its directors took the decision to suspend publication as of September 12, with the ultimate aim of relaunching in a new format - possibly printed - next spring. And this is where we need the help of our loyal readers... Behind the scenes the management team has been working on a series of exciting developments to bring The Globe back on a regular basis. Deposits for a customised news website and related domains have been paid, with further meetings involving community representatives from Gosport and Fareham taking place over the coming weeks. The next step is to investigate the cost of printing your FREE Globe and readers can support the project by either donating or sharing this Crowdfunder. Any funding received by this fundraiser will help to lay the foundations and give a head start on raising capital to make an exciting new venture succeed. Until a new management body has been formally incorporated, development plans are being put together by a working party involving former directors and team members of the original Gosport Globe Community Publications C.I.C. under the head G&F Community News Project, with Connor Steel acting as honorary secretary.
