Let people know they are not alone in this crisis. Offering good company, warmth, help with energy bills, social activities & more.
We are The Community Bureau, with base in Campbeltown. We support all vulnerable adults who have seen their community ripped apart by Covid and now try to cope with the cost of living crisis. Loneliness and isolation have increased and we work to ensure that no one is alone, their needs are met and now, that no one struggles alone with unaffordable costs. Our aims are friendship, practical help and support, and social activities - making new friends and joining together to enjoy life, especially in older age or when coping with poverty and ill health. With our lovely volunteers we answer a wide range of needs, go out and about and need support to ensure this continues.

We are open to all who need us within the community, and often partner with other local charities to offer activities with a wider group of people. We aim to work within and as part of the local community, many of whom drop in just to say hello, to chat or to offer some help themselves. Our volunteers are drawn from the community, and we welcome all, irrespective of their circumstances. Our dogs are also there to make people smile! All those we support can feel part of a wider community and activities take place within and with local residents, businesses, places of interest. Happiness we believe is infectious, and helping each other key to our mission.

Our organisation has been affected by rising energy and utility costs as well as the cost of providing social activities, and travel costs. Today, we are helping someone move house; that will need one staff member and four volunteers making multiple trips with a van - this cost cannot be passed on to someone who is a carer. We cannot refuse, but the cost to us is greater than ever.
Similarly, in our rural and remote corner of Scotland all travel is expensive, yet we are committed to ensure no one is left isolated and alone in our very dispersed settlements. We will not give up - in fact this cost of living crisis means we are offering more support - whether that be somewhere warm for tea and cake, a friendly chat with a group, or joining indoor or outdoor activities - all now cost more than ever and we know so many are struggling. With funding we can support people dealing with energy companies, help to avoid debt (and scams), and supply some basic household needs. Wonderful things can happen when we bring people together, We just need your help to ensure that no one falls through the net and suffers when help can be there.
Friendship can mean so much.
It’s important to be transparent about how you plan to spend the money you raise.
All funds raised will be used in our community to help those members who are struggling the most. Costs from funds raised will go towards helping people come together, tackling cost of living crisis issues (advocacy on behalf of someone, financial advice etc) and maintaining all our services which help people cope at a time of stress and worry. Thsi could include 'time out' to walk and enjoy our lovely countryside, somewhere warm and friendly to chat and have coffee and cake - or to discuss worries and problem solve together. Leaving no one alone, is our aim, and is what your donation can help ensure.
