To support children and young people who have experienced harm or abuse to become the best they can be and more.
Choices runs with purely volunteers for local communities who care about each other. We have been running for 15 years as a small youth community group and have now been successful in becoming a Charity, which we are really pleased with as this was always our vision. We tailor our delivery to those children and young people most hardest to reach and who are getting lost in the system.
We also work with children and young people who have experienced harm or abuse and who are experiencing mental health issues, that prevents them from being the best they can be. Covid has caused them to experience further isolation and mental health has compounded their ability to remain in mainstream education. Every child or young person should have the best start in life free from harm or any kind of abuse or harm. There are so many that we can't support as we do not have the resources to support them but we try our best and we run purely with volunteers who give their time freely.
We want to offer safe spaces where children and young people can learn and develop new skills and strive to achieve and to raise their aspirations for their future. This will make them more employable and therefore break the cycle of deprivation that they are experiencing. We want to offer a range of development opportunities that enable them to remain in education and to act as advocates for them where their voice is heard. Sometimes this has got lost in their childhood and we want to ensure this isn't lost in their transition into adulthood.
