At Hyndburn Food Pantry, our stretch target is all about going further for the peopl...
To bring a little happiness to people in our community who are struggling financially.
Why are we crowdfunding?
For the past five years, our Food Pantry has been at the heart of our community, supporting more than 400 households every week across our three open days. We are entirely volunteer-led, with no paid staff, and we’re incredibly proud that our team is made up of dedicated local people who want to give back. We even have a waiting list of volunteers, showing just how strong the community spirit is around our project.
We know that what we do makes a meaningful difference. Families on low incomes, people on zero‑hour contracts, older residents, those living with long‑term health conditions, refugees, asylum seekers, and anyone struggling to balance food and bills turn to us for support. Alongside access to low‑cost, healthy food, we also provide budgeting sessions, reduce social isolation, and offer a positive, welcoming place where people feel they belong.
Our vision
Our vision is simple: that no one in our community faces hardship alone, and that families can enjoy dignity, stability, health, and togetherness.
How we’ll spend the money raised
Every pound donated will directly support our community. Funding will allow us to:
We supplement all our work with donations from local businesses, who run food drives on our behalf. This initiative grows every year, gaining momentum through local media and social media support, helping us stretch resources even further. We also regularly attend and host fundraising events, with every penny raised going back into the Food Pantry.
Impact
Your support will help us do more than provide food. With your help, we will:
Your contribution will directly help us turn a difficult time into one of dignity, warmth, and community for hundreds of families.
How you can help
There are three simple ways to support our project:
1. Make a donation
Every pledge — big or small — brings us closer to our goal. Early donations help build momentum and inspire others to give.
2. Spread the word
Share our project with friends, family, neighbours, workplace groups or community pages. The more people we reach, the greater the impact.
3. Volunteer with us
If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you. You can contact us through the “Contact” section using the subject line:
“I want to volunteer my time or expertise.”
One of our volunteers is 80 years old and is one of our most reliable volunteers and says that the Pantry has given her anew lease in life and made her feel wanted and valued again.
Several customers who visit our free community café comment that we are the only place they can go to due to lack of funds that gives them someone to talk to and makes them feel part of the community. This helps prevent social isolation and gives people a reason to come out and meet people.
We also sit and chat with our customers and help with any troubles they have even if its just listening to their concerns they feel heard.
