Helping Hannah to get urgent spinal surgery

Family, friends, friends of friends, we desperately need to ask for your help to raise funds for Hannah’s urgent spinal surgery.

A few short weeks ago, discovered completely by chance Hannah was diagnosed with scoliosis. This was devastating news for Hannah and our family. Hannah is otherwise a fit and active 15 year old who spends her time as part of an explorer scout section, drama classes and her absolute passion, cheerleading. Within cheerleading, Hannah is part of a competition team, she volunteers her time every week within a young leader role and supports the SEND team.
Scans and X-rays have revealed that Hannah would require immediate surgery to ensure the best outcome and recovery to get back to the active life she leads now. Unfortunately the specialist surgery that Hannah requires is not available on the NHS in the time frame that is required, before she stops growing. This has left us no choice but to fund the surgery ourselves and this is why we are having to ask for help. The total cost for surgery and the hospital stay has been quoted at £59,600 and unfortunately doesn’t cover any follow up appointments or ongoing medication once she leaves the hospital. Surgery is scheduled at the beginning of November, providing we have the funds in place. The timing is not ideal considering it is her GCSE year, but delaying surgery is not worth the risk of the curve progressing and leading to more complicated surgery at a later date.
