Raise funds to support a local man return home and get back his indepenance
Hello Everyone,
Thank you for taking the time to visit our page. If you know Dave then you know already know what a fantastic guy he is and how very special he is for our family and to his friends. If you don't know Dave then an extra special thankyou for showing support and sparing some of your time!
We are Dave's family and I am his Wife (Kath), I have been married to Dave for 31 yrs and for most of our married life we travelled the world with the British Army (Royal Anglian Regiment) as Dave pursued a decorated career committed to serving his country.
When Dave left the Army (after 27 yrs) he decided to pursue his passion of working outdoors and serving the local community, setting up a tree surgeon business - he ABSOLUTELY adored his job and he was brilliant at it!
Unfortunately a recent freak accident has left Dave paralysed from the waist down. A fall from 30 ft resulted in severe injuries including a broken back, partially severed spinal cord and a bleed on the brain amongst other non life threatening but extremely painful injuries. To be very honest we are TRULY THANKFUL that he is still here with us and in time may return home.
We want to raise money to buy specialist equipment and make alterations to the house so that when Dave does make it home he achieve as much independence as possible. The Drs will not say 100% that he will not walk again and we continue to be hopeful that in time and with our love, patience and support a miracle might occur. You hear these things all the time so I believe if it possible Dave can make that happen.
The family already have upcoming events in the new year to raise funds for various charities including the British Legion and Macmillan Nurses. Some of the events include the London Marathon and Marathon Des Sables (252 KM across the Sahara Desert). We will post our progress on Facebook so you can see our progress and all details for Dave and his progress will be available by contacting us as we look towards the future.
If you could help Dave in any way we will be eternally grateful, particularly as we are fast approaching Christmas and understand that money is tight.
Thankyou from all of our family

P.S - LET ME TAKE THIS OPPORTUNTY TO SAY TO YOU ALL THAT IF THIS STORY MOVES YOU TO DO ANYTHING, PLEASE GO AND CHECK YOUR INSURANCE DOCUMENTS. It is with hindsight and great regret we realise we have lots of life insurance but nothing to replace an income or cover this particular type of accident. Please don't be caught out like we unfortunately have.
