To raise funds towards the costs of repairs to our indoor green after the recent flooding including remedial works to prevent future damage.
It is with heavy hearts that we reach out to you today, as our beloved Taunton Bowls Club, nestled in the heart of Vivary Park, has been devastated by the recent flooding caused by Storm Chandra, which has left our indoor rink severely damaged and with the daunting task of raising at least £25,000 for the essential repairs and remedial works.Taunton Bowls Club is much more than just a place to play bowls; it is a vital community hub, a place where friendships are formed, memories made and support offered to some of the most vulnerable members of our society. We have been proud to host a variety of events and entertainment nights that bring together older and more isolated members of our community, offering a safe, welcoming space for those who may otherwise feel forgotten.
Due to previous flooding we have been unable to gain flood insurance for our premises. After the last floods we carried out work to put in place protective measures but unfortunately due to the relentless nature of Storm Chandra and the preceding bad weather these measures failed, leaving our indoor rink in a state of ruin.
Without the indoor rink, our members are unable to engage in the sport they love, and we are losing close to £1,000 a week in revenue. This has left us on the brink of unsustainability, with every passing day feeling like a battle to keep the doors open.
We urgently need your help. Every penny you donate will go directly towards repairing our indoor rink, restoring our ability to serve the community, and ensuring that Taunton Bowls Club can continue to be a lifeline for many.
Thank you for your support, your kindness, and for helping to ensure that Taunton Bowls Club can remain a beacon of community spirit for many years to come. We are stronger together, and with your help, we can weather this storm and emerge even more determined to continue serving the community.
