On the 29th November 2024 we'd raised £790 with 15 supporters in 42 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
THE BEGINNING
In 2011, Yvette, our Founder and Director, had a vision to provide 'Cooking For All' within the Cookery School world. Providing fully accessible and affordable cookery experiences.
The Cookery School was started with minimum resources; equipment was bought on an as and when basis, as required. It all started with 5 wooden spoons, 5 saucepans, 5 bowls, 5 whisks and 5 plates. Over the years the equipment has increased; Harts Barn Cookery School has continued to fulfil it's ethos of 'Cookery For All', and we now have 70+ wooden spoons!
DEVELOPMENTS
In 2021, the School employed its first full time member of staff, Chef Joe Parke. He joined with many skills and a big passion for Fire cookery. Yvette had already built a huge clay oven (on the terrace), as she loves cooking outdoors, the quality of food produced and the wellbeing that comes from the communal cooking and feasting around the fire. Since taking up the Fire Cooking mantel, Joe has been running monthly seasonal classes, using local suppliers, bringing in Corporate customers and other groups who enjoy and want to learn more about Fire Cookery. We have even had 20 top executive chefs come to learn about Fire Cooking, along with Marcus Wareing, from MasterChef the Professionals.
We continue in our mission to provide 'Cooking For All' and are looking to increase the accessibility of the Fire Cooking area for wheelchair users and other disabilities too.
WHY WE NEED YOU
Unfortunately, the fire cooking area is not weatherproof (rain or sun), plus the space is now limited due to the increase of fire cooking equipment (BBQ, smokers, fire pits and more, including the wood/charcoal required to run our events). We are desperate to cover the area with a pergola, topped by a suitable roof, to help us continue to fulfil our ethos of 'Cookery For All', in all weathers.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU
We don't expect something for nothing and would like to take you on our Fire Cooking journey by rewarding you for your kind help.
