About Seeded
Seeded is an independent yarn and haberdashery store in Southsea on the South Coast of England offering a variety of craft workshops and yarn ephemera in a small, boutique style shop.
Now in our 6th year, Seeded grew from Alexsis' love of vintage buttons and organically expanded to wool and haberdashery in 2014 when she opened her first bricks and mortar store in Winter Road, Southsea.
Seeded is an assault on the senses, a colourful tactile space where anything is possible. A place where new conversations and thoughts are created daily and a place where skills and knowledge of the past are shared with the creatives of today over a cuppa.
In 2018 she re-located to Albert Road, Southsea to be a part of this vibrant area and provide a larger space for our popular creative workshops where we encourage everyone to try something new we have held over 500 workshops and cant even begin to imagine how many people have been inspired to be more creative!
What do we want to do
We already have a vibrant community of creative customers and since Fabricland decided to close their doors in Portsmouth they have left a gap in the fabric market that we would like to partially fill.
There are only a few small, independent businesses left to purchase these products in Portsmouth and Seeded would like expand our current offering of yarn and haberdashery items to include fabric giving local sewers and creatives the opportunity to source their fabric needs locally.
At the moment, we cannot hold workshops in our dedicated space as its too small to allow acceptable social distancing so we will use this space to create The Bolt Hole.
At the Bolt Hole at Seeded, we want to provide a shopping experience where you can see and feel the fabric you are going to buy and absorb the colours and textures, whilst getting the same level headed, consistent creative advice and help that our customers have come to expect at Seeded.
We will aim to stock a range of fabrics, including cottons, poly-cottons, linens, fleeces, linings, interfacings and so much more.
Alongside this we will also expand our haberdashery offering to include a wider range of threads, notions and zips - something that we already regularly get asked for.
We want to encourage people to shop locally and benefit more widely by supporting local business and the the local economy, whilst becoming a part of a community and experience the personal touch that only a small business can offer - this is something that we already do at Seeded with our evenings and events but is something that we will look to expand with the introduction of fabrics.
How will we spend the money
We are looking for £5000 which will be spent on purchasing fabric and haberdashery accessories and creating The Bolt Hole in our current workshop area.
Donations and Rewards
We feel that everyone who helps us by making a pledge should receive something in return for their help.
For this reason, we've created a list of Crafterhero rewards below.
