Raising vital funds for St. Joseph’s School in Eswatini to support the education and wellbeing of its visually impaired students.
A year ago, we embarked on our very first Seable safari to Eswatini in partnership with Sense Earth. It was an incredible, magical adventure, but there was one specific day that we will remember for the rest of our lives.
During our trip, we visited St. Joseph’s School. It was a deeply emotional and profoundly life-affirming experience, and we left with one burning question on our minds: How can we help?
The Incredible Work of St. Joseph’s
Located in the rural settlement of Mzimpofu in Eswatini’s Manzini region, St. Joseph's is a public Catholic co-educational school run by the Servite Order. It is a major center for inclusive education, doing the vital work of integrating students with disabilities into regular primary and secondary programs alongside all students.
The school is a home to children ranging from under-5s in preschool right up to 16 years old, and it provides extended support for students with extra needs up to the age of 21.
Why We Need Your Help
While the dedication of the staff at St. Joseph's is boundless, their resources are not. During our visit, what stood out to us the most was the heartbreaking lack of materials, equipment, and dedicated support for the visually impaired class.
As a community of visually impaired travellers, this is a cause that sits extremely close to our hearts. We know firsthand the difference that the right support, tools, and accessibility can make in a visually impaired person's life.
How Your Donation Will Make a Difference
We are incredibly lucky to be returning to Eswatini this October. During this upcoming trip, we will be visiting St. Joseph's again to present the school directly with the funds we raise here.
Every single donation, no matter the size, will make a huge, tangible impact on these students' daily lives. The money raised will go towards:
The Essentials: Purchasing basic mobility tools like white canes.
Educational Tools: Providing tactile games and much-needed learning materials.
Life-Changing Equipment: Contributing toward the cost of expensive, specialised equipment like a Perkins Brailler.
Daily Wellbeing: Helping to fund the little things that matter, such as providing extra vegetables for the children's daily school lunches.
Please Donate Today
We are calling on our wonderful Seable community to help us bring a smile to the faces of children who have so little. Let's come together to give the visually impaired students of St. Joseph’s the tools and support they deserve to thrive in their education.
Thank you so much for your generosity, your time, and your continued support!
