Aim
Our clubhouse needs an electrical wiring upgrade to ensure we can continue to provide sustainable sporting and social events into the future
Who are we?
- Holcombe & Blue Bell Hill cricket club is an inclusive sports club based in Blue Bell Hill village providing cricket playing and training facilities for its membership, consisting of boys & girls between the ages of 4-17, as well as 4 adult teams. Alongside the sporting opportunities, we host many social events throughout the year, including family fun days, BBQ's and quizzes whilst also using the grounds to support a number of local community events, including Jubilee and Coronation celebration parties and the start/finish point for an upcoming ultra-marathon.
Why are we crowdfunding?
Following complete refurbishment of the clubhouse in the past, the electrical cables in the building are now sadly at the end of their life. This has not been helped by rodent inhabitants in the roof who have taken a liking to the cable insulation! It is estimated that rewiring the clubhouse will cost in the region of £5,500 and we are appealing to members, family/friends, local community and businesses to help raise the funds required.
Although our initial target of £1,500 is well below the total cost, we are hoping to exceed this so that club reserves can be used for their primary purpose of providing sporting and social opportunities for our members and the local community.
We have already received generous gifts from Kent Cricket Club, Diggerland and club members, which will be raffled as prizes at the end of the project with every contributor in with a chance of winning.
How we’ll spend the money raised
All funds raised will go directly to fund the electrical upgrade work which is due to start in March, prior to commencement of the 2024 season.
Community impact
Holcombe and Blue Bell Hill cricket club wants to continue to grow it's position as an integral part of the local community. Whilst we are predominately a sports club offering coaching and playing opportunities, we also provide a social hub for those who are not able to participate in sport but would like to become involved in a wider capacity, such as umpiring, scoring, coaching, or just generally helping out with the running of the club. We also welcome those in the local community that want to visit our facilities to spectate or socialise with friends and family in a safe, welcoming environment.
How you can play your part
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages, with your friends/work colleagues and ask them to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
