Aim

Help us replace our ageing boat trailer and secure the future of our community scuba diving club.

Who are we?

We are a volunteer-led BSAC scuba diving club based in West Wales with 14 active members. Our club provides safe, affordable, and enjoyable opportunities for people of all ages and experience levels to learn, train, and participate in scuba diving.

We are passionate about helping people develop new skills, stay active, build confidence, and enjoy the incredible marine environment on our doorstep. Our members range from newly qualified divers to experienced divers, all sharing a love of adventure, learning, and the sea.

We are also developing our involvement in marine conservation and plan to support members through the BSAC Marine Champion programme, helping to protect and promote our local marine environment for future generations.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are raising funds to replace our ageing boat trailer, which is essential for transporting and launching our club dive boat safely.

Our boat is at the heart of the club. It allows us to access local dive sites, deliver training, support newly qualified divers, and provide regular diving opportunities for our members.

Thanks to previous support from Sport Wales, we were able to purchase a new engine for the boat, greatly improving its reliability and safety on the water. We remain extremely grateful for that investment. However, our trailer is now becoming increasingly unreliable due to its age and condition and has become the weakest part of our operational equipment.

Without a reliable trailer, we risk losing access to many of the diving opportunities that our members enjoy throughout the year.

How we'll spend the money raised

All funds raised will go directly towards the purchase of a replacement boat trailer.

Estimated project costs:

• Replacement boat trailer – £3,650

Club contribution:

• Club funds and member contributions – £650

Crowdfunder target:

• £3,000

The new trailer will allow us to transport and launch the boat safely, reduce maintenance concerns, protect the investment already made in the vessel, and ensure the club remains sustainable for years to come.

Community impact

Our club provides opportunities for people to participate in physical activity, develop practical skills, improve wellbeing, and enjoy the natural environment.

The boat enables us to deliver training, support new divers entering the sport, and provide regular opportunities for members to remain active. It also supports our future plans for marine conservation and environmental awareness through the BSAC Marine Champion programme.

Replacing the trailer will help ensure that current and future members can continue to benefit from everything the club has to offer, while maintaining an important volunteer-led sports organisation within our local community.
