Who are we?
We are a small Village Cricket club based in the Beautiful village of Buckland S.t Mary, in the Blackdown hills in Somerset.
Why are we crowdfunding?
A few seasons ago our reliable old grass cutter catastrophically failed, to the extent the engine physically fell off of the mower......
We decided as a club that we would invest the clubs money into another machine. After researching the possibilities considering our budget, we decided on the perfect mower. During inspection and testing the mower looked like the exact tool for the job.
Unfortunately after a few very successful cuts the mower engine broke down. After multiple repair attempts and escalating expenses, we have sadly had to call our losses and look to replace the replacement grass cutter for a newer, more reliable model.
Unfortunately as a small village club, in the current environment, the expenditures we have made on the replacement mower, mean we are unable to afford to fund it's replacement.
How we’ll spend the money raised
Previous research into mowing equipment and a current look into online market places, we believe we need to raise somewhere in the area of £5000 for a reliable and capable mower which meets out needs.
Community impact
The ground is currently privately owned and rented by ourselves, however we recognise the low cut grass and the location means the field is a popular spot for walking dogs and children to play. The Village primary school use the ground for sporting events and the local parish council have just invested in a couple of football nets for the local villagers to use.
How you can play your part
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success! Anything you can spare will be greatly appreciated by all at the club!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
