Aim

Help us raise vital funds to replace The Polygon Centre roof and protect the legacy of this historic building for future generations.

Help us save The Polygon Centre for the next generation

For over 60 years, The Polygon Centre has been part of the Alfreton community. Generations of local people have passed through its doors, building friendships, finding support and creating lasting memories.

Today, that story continues with a new chapter!

Valley CiDS recently secured The Polygon Centre, ensuring this much-loved building could continue to serve local young people. Since reopening, the space has quickly come back to life, with more than 250 local young people attending weekly youth sessions provided by the Blend Youth Project team.

It is once again a place of connection, activity and opportunity for young people.

The Polygon Centre now needs urgent roof repairs

The roof is in a bad state of disrepair and requires a full replacement. Ongoing leaks have already caused extensive internal damage and, without action, this will continue to worsen, putting the future of the space at risk.

We have already worked hard and made significant investment to reopen The Polygon Centre and we cannot allow it to fall back into decline.

What we are raising funds for

We are raising £40,000 to:

  • Repair and replace the roof
  • Fix internal damage caused by leaks
  • Protect and restore the building for continued use

Why this matters

Spaces like The Polygon Centre are vital for young people. They provide somewhere safe to go, a place to build confidence, develop skills and form positive relationships.

We are already seeing the impact. Young people are connecting, trying new things and growing in confidence in a supportive environment.

For many, this is more than just a building. It is a place where they feel they belong.

A place that belongs in the community

The Polygon Centre holds a special place in the hearts of many in Alfreton. We have heard countless stories from people who spent time here growing up.

Now, a new generation is beginning to create their own memories in the same space.

"I like coming to Blend because it is very welcoming and helpful and the kind of place they include anybody and everybody and they never fail to make me laugh, I think Blend is the best thing ever." - Young person attending Polygon youth sessions.

With your support, we can make sure those memories continue for years to come.

A Youth Worker's View of the Importance of The Polygon and Youth Work in Alfreton

"Since opening at The Polygon in February 2026, we have seen over 250 young people attend our Wednesday sessions alone. What makes this space so special is that it gives young people somewhere they can truly call their own; a place where they feel safe, valued, and supported to build confidence, independence, and essential life skills.

Sometimes the biggest achievements come from the smallest moments, whether that's making toast for themselves, trying something new, or gaining the confidence to join in. The Polygon has helped us create an environment where those milestones are recognised and celebrated, while allowing Blend to focus on raising aspirations and releasing potential for young people across Alfreton."

Shainie Breden, Blend Youth Worker
