This year marks an incredibly special milestone for West London School of Dance and The Du Boisson Dance Foundation as we celebrate 30 years of our annual production of The Nutcracker. 

For three decades, Nutcracker has been a much-loved part of life at WLSD. Generations of children have grown up performing on its stage – from their first excited appearance as one of our youngest dancers to taking on principal roles as they grew older.  For so many of our former pupils and families, the music, costumes, rehearsals, backstage excitement and final performances hold memories that have lasted long after their dancing days were over. 

As we prepare to celebrate our 30th anniversary production, we would love to make this year’s Nutcracker particularly special. 

The cost of producing a full-scale theatre production has, however, risen considerably. Theatre hire, technical staff, lighting, scenery, costumes and the many elements needed to put our young dancers on stage now cost substantially more than they once did. 

We are therefore hoping to raise £15,000 towards the additional costs of staging our anniversary production and helping us create some extra magic worthy of this very special year.

And we would love our Nutcracker family, past and present – to be part of it. 

If you danced in Nutcracker with us, watched your child grow up through the production, helped backstage, taught a generation of our dancers, or simply have wonderful memories of those performances, we would be enormously grateful if you would consider making a contribution. 

Whether it is £5, £20, £50 or more, every donation will help us towards our goal. 

Perhaps even more importantly, we would love you to share this page with former WLSD pupils and families.  After 30 years, our Nutcracker family stretches a very long way, and we would love to reconnect with as many of you as possible as we celebrate this milestone. 

We have some very exciting ideas for this year’s anniversary production which, if our fundraising allows, we hope will make our 30th Nutcracker truly unforgettable. 

Thirty years ago, the first generation of WLSD children stepped onto the Nutcracker stage. This Christmas, another generation will do the same. 

We hope our alumni, families and friends will help us continue that tradition and make our 30th anniversary production one to remember.

Funds raised through this campaign will contribute towards the costs of WLSD’s 30th anniversary production of The Nutcracker, including theatre and production costs and anniversary enhancements. Should the full target not be reached, all funds raised will be put towards these production costs. Should the campaign exceed its target, additional funds will be used to support this production and future WLSD performance opportunities.
