Aim

Help us raise £2,000 to turn our successful pop-up into a permanent shop & workshop — rescuing more fabric and growing our community

Who we are

We’re Z in the Attic, an independent business in Macclesfield that rescues fabric from landfill and transforms it into reusable products, clothing, and gifts.

We started as a little pop-up shop earlier this year — and the response blew us away. The pop-up proved that people want bold, sustainable making on their high street.

Now, thanks to that success, we’ve been offered the chance to take on a permanent shop and workshop space.

Our vision is simple: less waste, more creativity, and a community that’s empowered to make and mend.

Why we need your help

The pop-up showed us what’s possible. A permanent home means we can:

  • Save more textiles from going to waste
  • Run more workshops for all ages and abilities
  • Host school visits and community events
  • Create a vibrant, sustainable hub in Macclesfield

But before we can move in, the space needs £2,000 of refurb work. Normally, we’d cover this ourselves through sales and graft, but with bills and rent stacked up, we can’t do it alone.

What you get for pledging

We’re not just asking for help — we’re giving back too.

For every £10+  pledged, you’ll receive:

  • A £5 credit to spend with us (in-store or online)
  • A downloadable Z in the Attic Digital Thank-You Pack with DIY tips, scrap-busting ideas, and more.

So whether you’re saving up for Adventure Pants, a reclaimed tote, or a workshop place, your pledge still brings value back to you.

On top of that, we’ve got some brilliant tiered rewards to thank you for your support:

  • £10 – “Thread by Thread”
One stitch closer to our goal. Includes £5 credit to spend with us.
  • £25 – “Patchwork Pal”
Helping us piece this project together. Includes an exclusive Z in the Attic pin badge made from offcut designs
  • £50 – “Tote-ally Fabulous”
You’re carrying us forward — literally. Limited-edition reclaimed tote.
  • £100 – “Wall of Fame Fabricator”
Your name on our wall (loud and proud!) + invite to our supporters-only preview.
  • £250 – “Maker’s Muse”
A personal 1:1 workshop with us — creating something unique from reclaimed fabric.
  • £500+ – “Founding Stitch”
The ultimate backer tier. A custom Adventure Pants bundle + recognition as a founding supporter of our new space.

Why it matters

Your support helps us:

  • Keep fabric out of landfill
  • Provide skills and knowledge through workshops
  • Expand outreach into schools and the wider community
  • Keep an independent, sustainable business thriving on the high street

This isn’t just about a shop — it’s about creating a permanent home where creativity, sustainability, and community meet.

Timeline

We need to raise £2,000 by 12th October so refurb works can begin straight away. That way, we can open the bigger, brighter Z in the Attic space as soon as possible.

Thank you

We’ve poured our energy, skills, and passion into building Z in the Attic and thanks to you, it’s been a roaring success. You’ve shown us that Macclesfield is ready for bold, sustainable making on the high street.

Now we’re ready to take the leap into a permanent home. With your help, we can turn this once-temporary space into a lasting hub for creativity, community, and fabric-saving magic.

Every pledge, every share, and every word of encouragement pushes us closer to making it real.

How Regular Donations Help

A single donation helps us reach our £2,000 refurb target — but regular monthly donations mean we can keep building beyond that.

Here’s what ongoing support could fund:

  • £5 per month → buys reclaimed materials and threads, keeping more textiles out of landfill
  • £10 per month → covers workshop supplies so more people can learn to sew, mend, and make
  • £20 per month → funds school talks and community outreach, helping us reach young people with sustainable alternatives (like reusable period products)
  • £50 per month → helps cover core costs like rent and utilities, keeping our workshop doors open as a permanent community hub

🌟 The difference it makes

  • Regular income gives us stability — we can plan ahead, expand our classes, and take on bigger textile-saving projects
  • It means we don’t just survive between events and sales — we can thrive and make long-term change
  • Above all, it creates a community of backers who are part of our journey every step of the way

This project successfully funded on 12th October 2025
