So many have gained so much from Portsmouth Writers’ Hub. For 12 years it has provided invaluable support, advice, encouragement and inspiration to over 1,600 members in the local community. Our various events and workshops have helped members improve their writing, editing, structuring and pitching skills, with many getting published as a result. Our activities have explored the worlds of both traditional and contemporary publishing, connecting members with literary agents and sharing the secrets of successful self-publishing. Through productive partnerships with the University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth City Council, Bookfest, T’Articulation and many other organisations, the Hub has provided ample opportunities for writers to perform their work and facilitated collaborations between authors, artists and filmmakers.
Now we want the Hub to be even bigger and better. With the Portsmouth Literature and Literacy Year 2025 just around the corner, we want to employ a part-time coordinator to deliver yet more engaging and exciting activities for the writing community.
These will include running larger and more impactful public events focusing on issues ranging from mental health to marginalisation; setting up mentoring, networking and critiquing groups; building collaborations with local schools, colleges, libraries, festivals and museums; and submitting funding bids for bigger-scale projects.
Your donation will help us to employ the coordinator and seed the expansion of the Hub.
