Aim

Help our emerging female-led theatre company bring queer, folklore-inspired comedy-horror play 'Turn The Cloth' to Edinburgh Fringe 2026

WHO ARE WE?

We are Cutty Sark Theatre, an emerging new writing company based in Glasgow, co-founded by Eve Miller and Laura J. Milton. We are passionate about representing queer women, and telling stories rooted in the Scottish landscape which explore the more-than-human.

Following our company's five-star, sold out show 'Devil's Point' at Edinburgh Fringe 2025, we are thrilled to be returning with a brand new piece of theatre based on Scottish folklore and the female experience. We truly believe that the world needs more Scottish stories, and more spooky stories about women. With your generosity, we can prove it.

OUR SHOW

For centuries, young women have gathered in the village hall during the first storm of winter to complete a tradition warding off a kelpie who seeks to abduct an eligible bride. But when one of the girls doesn’t show up, the others fall to gossip, in-fighting, and debate over whether anyone could still believe in this fabled beast. Teenage heartbreak, eldritch horror, and Blockbuster video collide in this treacherous ritual that has the power to save or unmake four futures.

WHAT WILL WE USE THE MONEY FOR?

As an emerging company, we raise funds on a project-to-project basis, and are entirely self-funding this production. Our current funds are not yet enough to fully cover our venue costs, let alone any staging or advertising costs, both of which are vital to putting on an impressive and well-staged show, and finding an audience to watch it.

Your support and generosity would contribute to venue hire, production costs, and advertising costs - all foundational elements of this production, and key to its success. Financial backing would massively relieve the pressure on our very new company’s finances, providing us with a financial buffer for any unforeseen costs, and allowing us to focus our time and creative energy on the show.
