In Memory of Adrian — Medical & Funeral Costs Support
On 10 April 2026, Adrian — a 39-year-old British man, partner, son and brother — suffered a sudden, catastrophic brain haemorrhage while in Harare, Zimbabwe.
He was rushed to hospital and underwent emergency life-saving brain surgery within hours. Without it, he would not have survived the night.
Adrian remained in intensive care in a coma, critically ill and thousands of miles from home, while his family faced an overwhelming medical crisis alone.
Despite the efforts of his medical team, Adrian sadly passed away this morning.
We are heartbroken by his loss.
The Medical Situation
Adrian suffered a haemorrhagic stroke with severe brain swelling, requiring a decompressive craniotomy — a major operation where part of the skull is removed to relieve pressure.
He remained in ICU for over two weeks and never regained consciousness.
The Medical Costs
Adrian’s care has already exceeded $50,000 USD, and costs continued to rise daily. This included:
These costs remain an overwhelming burden for the family.
Insurance Refusal
Adrian had comprehensive UK travel insurance.
The insurer has refused to pay anything, citing a prior referral for an eye appointment.
They are using this unrelated issue to deny cover for a life-threatening brain emergency.
We are challenging this decision through the Financial Ombudsman Service, but this process takes time.
Our Current Need
We are now raising funds to help cover:
