Aim
We are a tiny independent business with big dreams, and we need your help to get our new Camberwell bakery over the finish line.
Our Story
We are Oliver and Rebecca, the founders of FROG Bakery. We're a pair of seasoned bakers building a brand-new bakery together. We've worked at some amazing establishments such as Ottolenghi, Hawksmoor, Oklahoma, Bread by Bike, Brick House, Fortitude Bakehouse and the Snapery, and now we're taking the plunge and going it alone!
FROG was born on a cold morning, deep in the February lockdown, when we were introduced by a mutual friend. It took roughly half an hour for us to decide we were destined to run a bakery together.
We tested out our working partnership at the amazing Platform Café in Loughborough Junction, where we launched a weekly pop-up which ran for three months over the summer. We baked heaps of cakes and pastries, and we made a lot of friends.
In December we signed the lease on a site at 44 Peckham Road that has stood empty for ten years. We now need your help to transform this fantastic space into a beautiful warm neighbourhood bakery.
What to expect when we open
We hope to open our bakery in early March 2022. We'll be baking properly delicious sourdough bread made with carefully-sourced flours and full of healthy whole grains. If you like rye bread you've come to the right place. We'll have a weekly selection of beautiful and exciting cakes and pastries made with seasonal ingredients and savouries and sandwiches at lunch time. We'll also be serving filter coffee and tea.
Your donations
With your help we will be able to invest in a few pieces of essential equipment for running our bakery.
- An Omnium cargo bike. This will allow us to fulfil carbon-neutral deliveries to our wholesale customers, restaurants and delis across the South-East and beyond.
- Pastry sheeter. Croissants for all! With a pastry sheeter we'll be able to make even more viennoiserie items, pastry and buns. You'll thank us on your Saturday morning breakfast run.
- Building costs. We're completing as much of this fit-out as we can ourselves, with huge amounts of help from Oliver's dad, Lee (FROG's MVP) and our friends. Nevertheless there are plenty of unexpected costs, especially with the price of materials sky-rocketing at the moment, and your support will ensure we can open sooner, with a bigger capacity, and get the space looking sharp and stylish.

We're giving away limited edition dough scrapers by Still Life, Glasgow. They recycle plastic packaging to make beautiful furniture and objects, and they've kindly made us 15 of their hugely popular scrapers in special FROG colours.
You can also get your hands on a FROG t-shirt! Screenprinted by South London studio DONE London, you can choose from either a white t-shirt with a green FROG logo, or yellow with a green logo.
