To replace existing worn out clay courts with 2 hard courts. Creating a safe, quality surface for tennis to thrive in the local area.
Cleckheaton Lawn Tennis Club was established in 1877, the same year as the very first Wimbledon tournament! It is a grassroots club that is there to serve the community and has been described as an oasis of tranquility in the heart of industrial West Yorkshire. The club is run entirely by its 70 volunteers, and is an inclusive club offering tennis on both a social and competitive level. After covid it was the strength that brought isolated people back together. On a Wednesday evening free tennis is enjoyed by the whole community.

Regular daytime and evening social tennis sessions
Coaching from a level 3 coach for all tennis ages and abilities
Opportunities to represent CLTC in local tennis leagues
Social tennis tournaments
The chance to try a new sport
Junior social and competitive tennis

Bring people together and increase participation in tennis. Tennis is such a fun and exciting game that is accessible to all no matter what your age and ability.
Show our community what tennis can offer in terms of health and mental wellbeing. As a club we have witnessed first hand the positive impact of playing tennis on the body and mind, helping many members to recover from serious illnesses.
Increase membership numbers.
To ensure this historic tennis club remains a big part of the community. Not just surviving but thriving!
Improve the facilities that we offer, providing a safer surface for all to play on.
Ensure everyone knows about CLTC, making it the tennis hub within our community. Our onsite coach can nurture talent and create a love of a new sport at any age.
Increase participation for over 55s age category. Our members range in age from 10 to 90 years. The club is not just a place to play sport but to socialise and make friends for life.
Set up a regional tennis hub for girls aged 5 - 16 years old. We have already created a fun and comfortable environment that nurtures their skills and talents.
Work with local schools to promote tennis to youngsters and have access to the appropriate facilities.

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
