We're still collecting donations
On the 31st January 2022 we'd raised £27,261 with 255 supporters in 48 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

About The List
At The List, we pride ourselves on being champions of the very best in Scottish, UK-wide and global culture. Based in Edinburgh, we’ve been banging the drum for (and shouting our heads off about) the arts since 1985, from advocating for the avant-garde to launching the careers of superstars – we were the first magazine to put Ewan McGregor and Alan Cumming on the cover, and more recently we’ve featured Ray BLK and Hannah Gadsby.
Why we need your help
It’s been a labour of love for everyone over the last two years but at times we weren't sure we would ever publish again. In 2021, The List Ltd made the decision to seek to sell the publishing operations and focus on its data business which left the future of publishing hanging in the balance. Long story short, a few strong-willed people couldn't imagine a world without our print magazine and have banded together to help rebuild the 37-year-old legacy that is The List.
We’re a small company (even smaller now!) made up of dedicated and knowledgeable individuals, but our resources are limited and our advertising revenue has been hit hard, so we’re looking to raise funds to help us bring The List magazine back to life.
Sheri Friers, Publishing Director of The List: “The List has been helping subscribers, readers, supporters of the arts, festival goers and foodies ‘get a life’ since 1985 and now we are asking for help to keep doing what we do best. If you have ever been to one of our infamous List Festival parties and had a drink on us, picked up a free copy of The List magazine and had a night out on our recommendation, entered a competition and won or just enjoyed our award-winning content, then please think about helping us out so we can continue to bring you all of these things.”
What do we need the money for?
Money raised will be spent on supporting the rebuild of The List magazine, creating new jobs, designing a new website and continuing to pay our journalists, editorial, production and freelance staff to produce the best content possible.
As things continue to open up, we want to be right there, ready to give you our recommendations and spread the love. Not to mention, get back to throwing amazing parties!
Publishing our magazine, which is available for free from participating outlets, will help us support the many artists, filmmakers, playwrights, actors, choreographers, novelists, musicians, comedians, kids’ entertainers, arts organisations, festivals, clubs, pubs and restaurants that have suffered during lockdown. We would also love to fully support and commission current writers as well as the next generation of List journalists.
