Dear friends, art lovers, everyone...
We are the Holburne Museum, one of the best-loved small museums in the UK. We have been at the cultural heart of Bath for over 130 years, bringing art and creativity to millions of people, working within our core belief that we can help to 'Change Lives Through Art'.
On 18 March - to help fight the spread of the coronavirus - we shut our doors, our cafe and our garden with immediate effect. Our programmes are postponed and our Museum is closed.
The Museum is now at risk.
We are an independent museum, with no local or central government funding, and we rely on the support of our visitors and community to survive. It costs £1,300 a day to care for our building and collection alone. As a charity, the loss of all income from tickets, events, our shop and café for an unknown time poses an unprecedented threat to our existence.
We now need your help.
If you value art, creativity and culture as much as we do please support us. While we are closed we are doing all we can to keep in touch with our community through creative online activities for everyone - something that will become increasingly important as social isolation expands and deepens. We love keeping in touch with you all, and our belief in and our commitment to art and wellbeing has never felt more important.
Please donate whatever you feel you can.
Take care, and thank you.
