Help the Harptree Hunky Punks

I am raising funds for a Renewal Project for the Church and Community of East Harptree called Project Newton (www.eharptreechurch.co.uk is our project website). The project will also deliver benefits for young people in East Harptree and for some of the most disadvantaged young people in South Bristol. It will also enable us to restore our Hunky Punks. Here are 2 of them.

The project will allow people both local and visitors better to appreciate the special features and heritage of St Laurence Church, East Harptree and to have the opportunity to get involved, learn about and care for the heritage around them

The work will deliver urgent repairs needed to the tower, bells, Chancel, Victorian and Medieval wall paintings, Newton Monument (after which the project is named and see below), and stained glass of the church. Our fine Arts and Crafts window by Karl Parsons is also below

It will also deliver opportunities for increased engagement across our community, including safe use of the church building by East Harptree C of E Primary School and other local organisations. It will safeguard this magnificent building for future generations and bring alive the heritage of East Harptree enabling people of all ages to learn about and to enjoy this special place.

The Heritage Fund-we have a Round 1 Development Grant from them

Bristol Museum-who are working with East Harptree Primary School to connect the heritage with the School's curriculum

Learning Partnership West (www.lpw.org.uk) who operate a school for up to 90 young people from South Bristol who have been excluded from mainstream schools

Local partners include East Harptree School, the Village Environment Group, the Guides, the Preschool

Our Project Budget is c£900k. With funds already raised so far and if we obtain our Round 2 HLF grant we will have c£650k
