3rd December 2018Week 7 - less than 1 week of crowdfunding left!
Wow - this has been a truly incredible journey! We have been overwhelmed by all the support, thanks to which we’ve had 7 amazing weeks on Crowdfunder! We’ve now reached 90% of our target! Which means that we are just a little under £3,000 away from reaching our first crowdfunding target! :) And if we can give it another big push in the remaining week, we have a good chance of not just getting there, but well surpassing the target - which would bring us one step closer to covering the full costs of building the new Feminist Library space into a gorgeous new home for years to come! The total budget for the move is about double that on the crowdfunder target, so any stretch funding that we can achive before the end of this week would make immense difference to the future Library!
We would like to take this opportunity to give massive thanks to all our amazing supporters, like you, who have helped us spread the word far and wide. Thanks to all your support, our crowdfunding campaign has travelled around the world, with our messages being shared thousands of times by now!
And this week is exciting for a number of other reasons: our Winter Fayre - the last chance to party in our home of past 32 years! - is on the 8th Dec and the tickets are still available to book. Come and join us for this last chance to celebrate with us in our home of 32 years before we move!
We’ve also just received the picture of the first hand-drawn bag by Lucie Russell of Drawing People Together! And isn’t it a thing of beauty!?
And the great news keeps coming :) To add to all the excitement, last week, we met with our feminist design team and they presented us with some amazing new ideas for our new space, including curtains with a feminist #herstory timeline to be made by a local refugee women’s group and feminist rugs for the space! Here's a sneak preview of what these might look like:
The Feminist Library collective is incredibly grateful to our feminist design team - Power Project, Hi-Vis and Lucy Sanderson - as well as Lucie of Drawing People Together, and all the other amazing organisations and individuals who have supported us to help make our crowdfunding efforts a success. Keep an eye out for more details on the others coming in the week 8 - closing - update, here!
Please help us to spread the word about our move campaign even further - we still have almost 10% to go to cover our initial target - i.e. the basic costs of the move, with under one week to go! And then we have another £30,000 or so to cover the full costs of the move after that! So any help we can get to meet some, or all, of the stretch funding target will be massively appreciated! If you’re a member of a Trade Union, please encourage it to donate, as well as other members. In fact, we have a TU motion doing the rounds at the moment - let us know if you need a copy! Or if you have any contacts that might be useful for getting us any last minute press coverage to help us break through the target, please do get in touch!
Seeing all the support we have received during the campaign already, the Feminist Library team feels really touched and we are positive that, together, with all the amazing supporters that we’ve got, we can do it - we can cover all these costs by the end of this exciting campaign, and create a truly beautiful new Feminist Library home!
