Help the Feminist Library build its new home

Wow, another fabulously inspiring week for the Feminist Library on Crowdfunder! Last weekend, we have reached the £20,000 mark - or nearly 70% of our target! This means that are now less than 1/3 of the way from our target and well on track to getting there :) In fact, however, if we are to cover all the costs of the move, we need to raise another £35,000 after that! It would mean that we could afford to also build an exhibition space, and more, potentially, in the new Library home! 

We would like to take this opportunity to extend another massive thank you to all our supporters, everyone who has helped us spread the word, and anyone who covered our story.

In the fourth week of our crowdfunding campaign, we appeared in a really lovely blog post by our friends of Angels & Witches and the Women’s Radio Station continued to cover our story every day of the week, for the second week running last week! We were also interviewed by Dissident Island Radio and Dazed magazine, and we’re still in conversations with others, so keep an eye out for more coverage coming out soon! And we have just been invited to speak about the campaign at the Museums Showoff on 20th Nov! 

Perhaps even more excitingly, we have started meeting with our soon-to-be neighbours in Peckham, and they have shown a lot of enthusiasm for their new local Feminist Library! We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who’s welcomed us with open arms, and can’t wait to be working with you after we’ve moved to Peckham! 

Last weekend, we also had a very exciting visitor - former Feminist Library volunteer, now acclaimed author - Sarah Waters popped in with a signed set of her novels to gift to our crowdfunding campaign! Sarah says about her experience as our volunteer and her reasons for supporting the campaign: 

“Having been a volunteer at the Feminist Library in the past, I know from personal experience that it is an amazing institution, offering information, support and unique resources to readers, scholars and community groups. It has been a significant part of women's history – and of London history, too. It would be a great shame if the kind of inspiration I found in the Feminist Library as a young author was to be denied to others.” 

We are extremely grateful to Sarah, and all the other amazing writers, artists, designers, architects and other creatives who have supported us by donating their work and time to our crowdfunding efforts - keep an eye out for more details on the others here. 

Please continue helping us to spread the word - we still have some 30% to go to cover our crowdfunding target - for basic costs of the move - or something like 140% to cover the full costs of the move. Seeing all the support and love we have received already, the Feminist Library team is super confident that, together, with our amazing volunteers, friends and supporters, we can do it - we can cover all these costs by the end of this exciting campaign!
