Help the family of Cole Jackson

Aim: Help with spiralling costs to keep a family close to their critically ill child/brother & to support any unknowns for Coles future recovery.

• This is every parents and sisters worst nightmare.

On Wed evening at 5.20pm my friends son, the charismatic Cole Jackson was involved in a life-threatening road traffic accident while riding his motorbike home from work. He came off in the wet conditions near Hook and collided with an oncoming vehicle.

Before the emergency services arrived, several brave bystanders stopped and gave him first aid. They had the courage to remove his helmet and care for him in those critical moments, and their actions saved his life. the family are beyond grateful to them, complete strangers who did something heroic.

The air ambulance was called and gave Cole a blood transfusion at the roadside before flying him to St George’s Hospital in London. Police blue-lighted the family to the hospital, fearing the very worst.

That night, following a short stay in resus, he underwent urgent surgery on his spleen and for internal bleeding, and he’s been in the general ICU since the early hours of Thursday morning. He was placed into an induced coma and intubated on a ventilator to help support and stabilise him.

Surgeons successfully inserted rods into his lower left leg (tibia and fibula).

There are still many more injuries to manage, damage to his spleen and liver, fractured ribs and L2 vertebrae, spinal process fractures, lung damage, adrenal gland trauma, and the leg fracture. But the main thing right now is that he’s stable, breathing for himself, and in the hands of an exceptional team.

The family have been paying to stay in a London hotel and have now rented an air bnb. There is no knowing how long they will need to do this just to be close to the hospital. This is costing a huge amount of money and is of course distressing not knowing how they can continue to fund this going forward into the unknown. 

I want to help ease some of their anxieties.
