Please help my Afghan family escape Kabul!

My initial aim was to raise £10,000 for visas and travel to get my Afghan family to safety.  Remarkably we made our target - thank you to all those who generously donated.  Now I am hoping to double the target and raise £20,000 by the time the campaign ends on 13 September, in 3 days time. People are still donating and if you are reading this, please do continue…….

As you all know the situation is appalling in Afghanistan.  It is no longer possible to hope for a direct flight to Canada as the Canadian army has withdrawn. To reach Canada safely the family - 6 people including two young boys - will have to get to a third country and then fly from there on a commercial flight.  They will need money for flights and visas and also some money to help establish their lives there.  

As it stands the situation worsens every day and the family are terrified. The widowed mother in her 50s has been very ill. The daughter is in her 20s and is a university law student and primary school teacher; the son is in his mid 20s and has a degree in computer science. They both speak good English. There are also two young boys and their mother, who is in the middle of a nursing course.

The women are hiding in the house, unable to go out.  They had a lucky escape when the daughter was stopped on the street by the Taliban for walking without a man accompanying her, and badly beaten. As a family they have already experienced the violence of the Taliban, and mourn the death of their father who was murdered in front of them.  

Please help them get to Montreal, Canada. Some of the family reached Montreal in 2005, arriving through the offices of the UN via Tajikistan and registering as Asylum seekers, and they are desperate to welcome them.
