Aim: 'Girls on Fire' is an exciting, historical original show written by Ellie Grace and we need your help to get us to the Lambeth Fringe!
Who are 'Girls on Fire' Theatre Company?
Girls on Fire Theatre Company was created by Lily Sitzia, Ellie Grace and Emma Graveling, using their flagship production's name, with the goal of retelling the stories of forgotten, marginalised and subjected women in history.
What is 'Girls on Fire' about?
Girls on Fire follows the story of Hannie Schaft and Freddie and Truus Oversteegen, three young women who were fundamental in the Dutch resistance during World War Two. As a trio, they seduced and killed civilian traitors and Nazi soldiers, posing as ‘Moffen girls’ to gain the soldiers’ trust and lead them into the woods, where the executions took place. Our piece follows the girls' journey, from their first meetings, through their time in the war, up until Hannie Schaft's execution in 1945, just weeks before the end of the war in the Netherlands. Using folksong and physical theatre to enhance the story-telling, this multidisciplinary piece challenges the audiences’ perceptions of conflict and morality, serving as a reminder of the timeless evidence of violence, war and those who rise against it.
Why are you crowdfunding?
GoF theatre company have the incredibly exciting opportunity to perform this show at the Lambeth 2025 Fringe. We are incredibly thankful for any donations and to create the best version of this show we need to fundraise enough to cover costs such as:

Why does this show matter?
The world is once again in a state of tension, division, uncertainty and somewhere out there three young women are reliving the story which we wish to tell with Girls On Fire. Through this show we honour Hannie Schaft, Freddie and Truus Oversteegen, and we hope that their story does not need to be told to a generation after ours.
Girls on Fire Theatre company are very honoured to be in contact with the 'National Hannie Schaft Foundation' in the Netherlands who have been very supportive during the making of this show.
