Aim

The COVID-19 pandemic has created a very uncertain landscape for rugby clubs. We are looking to maintain sustainability during this time.

The Story So far....

The global COVID-19 pandemic has created a very uncertain landscape for thousands of Rugby Clubs, which is going to make it very challenging for rugby to survive. Together we can help them.

North Petherton RFC was founded in 1893 and has delivered rugby to the local community for over 125 years.  We pride ourselves on our strong youth section with over 200 youth members we pride ourselves on what we deliver as a club to them and their families.  It has a strong community ethos of growing and developing acorns into mighty oaks.

We pride ourselves that our youth section become our future stars for the adult teams in both our mens and ladies section.

The club looks to cater for all and create a vibrant community that will fit into the wider North Petherton Rugby Club Family.

But now we really need YOUR support…

Due to COVID-19, all activities at the club were suspended.

This has resulted in the immediate loss of our weekly income from bar revenue at matches, charity events and the hire of our facilities. Please help us to be able to ensure that our Club is able to service our next generation of rugby players, we have been without income since March of this year and vital ongoing costs still have to be paid.  Pitch maintenance costs the club over £4000 per season, energy bills over £6000 per season this has to be maintained even if we have no rugby to ensure that the ground and club facilities are ready to provide to the community as we have done and want to sustain our future to be able to serve and develop our local community plus keep the ongoing projects to improve the club that we have planned such as maintenance to the main club stand, installation of team dug outs to 1st team pitch and replacement on the main club roof and additional entrance for the club hall.  These projects alone take us into 10 of thousands of pounds.  To sustain our club we are seeking support from our fellow members, sponsors past or present players, friends and the wider community.

News from our Coaches

Our Coaches have put their perspective on how it has been affecting them and the teams.  We have to thank our coaches during this time especially giving their time up for free when we were able to train due to no income at the club.  They have worked tirelessly to try to keep our grassroots club going and all players engaged.

Postponed Events

It was sad this year to see the postponement of the Josh Evans Charity Ball.  The Josh Evans Charity holds a special place in our club heart.  Josh was a former player at the club and the charity that his parents founded provide support, information and help to children with diabetes and their families in Somerset.

Please help us return to Rugby and the hub of the Community...

COVID-19 has affected the club and in turn, affected all our members and supporters in some way - the sport, fun, fitness and social side is being missed by all associated with the club. We therefore ask you to please, PLEASE give generously to continue the progression of North Petherton Rugby Club now and in the future.

Crowdfunder are offering up their platform to allow all UK rugby clubs to assist help and raise funds for their clubs which will be matched by Sports England.  Our obligation to our club at this time is to do the best we can for it considering that Coronavirus has put an abrupt stop on our income streams when the Government Lockdown was implemented.  As a Committee we are passionate to ensure the sustainability of the club during this difficult time and the future.......
