Who are we?

Ashington Cricket Club was first established in the 1890s and for decades has played an integral role in the community. Based a stone's throw from the town centre, the club has become a thriving spot for welcoming visitors in the summer.

We pride ourselves on our reputation for providing equal opportunities for all of our juniors who come through the door, whilst building a fantastic family-friendly environment for parents and spectators who come to watch our senior sides during the season.

Our junior section is well-known for years gone by - notably producing England stars Stephen Harmison and Mark Wood, as well as Stephen's younger brother Ben who represented Durham and Kent at First Class level and notably John Inchmore who played professionally in the 1970s and 80s.

We are also field two senior Saturday sides and a midweek third team as well as continuing to build our up and coming ladies section.

But as we enter 2021 the club faces more challenges than ever to make sure we can keep providing the same opportunities for future generations.

We are also currently lending our clubhouse to be used as a vaccination centre in the battle against Covid-19, something we are richly proud about doing.

How you can help?

Our vision is to maintain all of our senior teams, and ensure our junior section survives after a difficult 2020 for everyone.

For that to happen we must ensure our base at Langwell Crescent is protected and kept in the best of orders. Our current heating system requires updating to ensure we can hire out our clubhouse for functions and community events and money raised from this Crowd-funder will go towards a new one.

The donations will help the club bounce back from the loss of revenue and income caused by the pandemic and will also go towards improve facilities.

It's imperative that our high standards of providing entertainment on the field whilst allowing social interaction to the community in the club's pavilion doesn't die.

Moving forward after Covid-19

We hope that 2021 brings a full calendar of cricket and we can welcome back spectators to full capacity once more. However, the heating system is essential if we wish to continue providing recreational and community facilities to the people of our town and beyond.

This is a potential body blow to our future, especially after the impacts of the virus on club finances.

We hope to see you in April.
