 New stretch target

With an extra £3,000, we can work towards getting out more literature for a greater number of councillors and elect even more onto the District on 2nd May.

We are the Stroud District Green Party and we need your support for the upcoming District Elections on 2nd May.

As a party that prioritises environmental sustainability, social justice, and community engagement, we are dedicated to working across the political spectrum to make Stroud a better place for all of its residents.

Current political parties on Stroud District Council:

Stroud District Council is currently led by Greens, in alliance with Independents (ex Labour councillors) and Lib Dems. This cross-party working has prevented the Conservatives from running the council for more than a decade, despite the Tories having the most councillors.

What have Greens done on the District Council?

During our decade in administration we have put Green values and policies into action - proving that environmental and social justice go hand in hand. Stroud District is now:

  • Repeatedly recognised as “the Best Place to Live”;
  • Known for one of the best rates of recycling in the country;
  • On track to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2030;
  • One of the few councils in the country building new council homes

How many Green candidates are standing?

On 2nd May, we face our biggest challenge ever - all of Stroud’s District Councillors will be up for election. We are standing a full slate of 51 candidates including defending our current 14 Green Councillors.  We aim to take seats from the Conservatives and replace them as the largest party on the Council. If we do everything right, we will keep the Tories out of power and continue proving the value of progressive parties working together.
